Your business
Notification emails
Who can use it. Anyone who receives notifications in Summit Hub: owners, office staff and field crew. Clients don't receive Summit Hub notifications, so the card doesn't appear for them. Everyone controls their own settings; nobody can change them on your behalf.
What it's for
Summit Hub has always shown notifications in the bell menu at the top of the screen. That works while you're in the app, and not at all while you're on a site, in a van, or looking at your phone between jobs. Notification emails send the same notification to your inbox, so the things you'd actually want to be interrupted for reach you wherever you are.
Only the notifications people asked to be emailed about are sent this way. The rest (pipeline stage changes, sync warnings, automation notices) stay in the app, where they belong.
What gets emailed
Four things, all on by default:
- A task is assigned to you.
- A task you created or were assigned is completed.
- Someone @-mentions you in a note. See Notes on a deal for how tagging works and who can be tagged.
- A reminder you set on a task falls due. See Task reminders for how to set, edit and cancel one.
Each email carries the notification's title, any extra detail, and a button straight to the task or deal it's about.
How to use it
- Go to My Account (in the sidebar for every signed-in role).
- Find the Notification emails card.
- Tick or untick each of the four types to choose which ones reach your inbox.
- To stop notification emails entirely, untick Send me notification emails at the top of the card. Your per-type choices are remembered, so turning it back on restores exactly the settings you had.
Every setting saves as soon as you change it: there's no separate Save button.
Unsubscribing straight from an email
Every notification email has an Unsubscribe from all notification emails link in its footer. It opens a page with a single Unsubscribe me button: one click to confirm, and all notification emails stop. (The confirmation step is there because company mail-security scanners visit every link in a message; without it they'd unsubscribe you before you'd read the email.) Most mail apps (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail) also show their own unsubscribe button at the top of the message, which takes effect immediately. Neither needs you to sign in.
Good to know
- Turning an email off never hides the notification. You'll still see it in the bell menu in the app, exactly as before. The email settings only decide what leaves the building.
- The overall switch wins. With "Send me notification emails" off, no notification email is sent no matter what the four type switches say.
- Assignments, completions and mentions send straight away: there's no daily digest. A task reminder sends at the time you set it for.
- You're never emailed about your own actions. Completing your own task or tagging yourself in a note doesn't notify you, in the app or by email.
- Emails come from your business's sending address, the same one used for quote and automation emails, and carry your business name, logo and colours: they look like the rest of the mail your clients and team already get from you.
- If an email can't be delivered, Summit Hub retries a few times over the following hour before giving up. Your support contact can see which emails sent, which were skipped, and which failed. For task reminders you can see it yourself, on the reminder's own row: see Task reminders.
- "Accepted by provider" is not the same as "arrived". Where Summit Hub reports on a send, the strongest thing it can honestly say is that our email provider took the message. Whether it then reached an inbox (rather than a spam folder, or a bounce) is between the two mail servers, exactly as with any other email.
- This feature is rolled out per installation. If you can't see the Notification emails card in My Account, it hasn't been switched on for your business yet.
